It seems Google now knows what you want before you do. The company has just released the latest version of its search engine, designed to shave up to five seconds off the average search time.

Google Instant, which was released on Wednesday night, works by delivering search results before you have finished typing in a query. The company says its aim is to reduce search time by between two and five seconds by predicting what a user is looking for. How the new search engine will affect search engine optimisation and PPC results remains to be seen.

In a blog post, the company said:

Richard Morris

Richard joined Lakestar McCann as news editor in 2009 and over the past three years has run the company's daily news feed service. Prior to joining the team at Lakestar he worked as a business reporter at Crain's Manchester Business, and spent three years as a general reporter at the North West Evening Mail in Cumbria.
