Booming ASOS shows online shopping bucking gloomy high street trends

Online clothing retailer ASOS is continuing to defy the
gloomy trends among high street chains, with UK sales rising by 24 per cent in
the first quarter of 2011.

The company has
continued to go from strength to strength despite reports that some of its
multi-channel rivals have been struggling since the VAT rise at the start of
the year.

But even this trend-defying performance was put into the shade by its
international sales, which rose by 161 per cent, helped in particular by spectacular
