National Trust turns to Facebook to find best Great British Day Out

National Trust

Conservation body the National Trust is mounting a bid to reach out to a younger audience by launching a new Facebook app.

To promote this new social media push the organisation is staging a contest inviting entrants to design their ideal 'Great British Day Out'.

Entrants are asked to select their ideal location and theme for a special event, invite some of their Facebook friends via the site, and then tell the Trust's competition organisers what would make their event special and unique.

People would then be able to vote for the event of their choice using a unique link on participants' Facebook pages.

The eventual winner will get a chance to turn their day out into reality, with up to £2,000 to spend on arranging it.

Entries received will be pared down to the 20 which receive the most votes, along with a number of 'judges' choices', and these will then all be considered by the judging panel to find an overall winner.
