Facebook manager app offers users updates on the go

Facebook has introduced a new app making it easier for all Apple device users to update their pages, and get a quick idea of the statistics they are generating.

Details of the new Facebook Pages Manager were passed on to iPhone and iPad users late last week, when they were also invited to download the new app.

The app presents users with a streamlined version of the main Facebook site, and only allows them to update certain sections of their profile.

Writing on advertising magazine Revolution's The Wall blog, Rachel Hawkes noted: “It is simply a way to update a page on the go, respond promptly to a Facebook community, and get a glimpse of how the page is performing”.

The new Pages Manager lets users view posts, and importantly, offers the facility to moderate a page, including taking such actions as deleting comments, banning individual users, and hiding material posted on their wall.

Hawkes added that, while the app's capabilities are limited, “it offers a lot of added value, such as being able to respond better to the audience and/or moderate in real time as well as being able to update in real time with pictures and commentary.”
